Saintpaulia are a much loved flowering indoor plant producing masses of flowers from a rosette of deep green leaves. Saintpaulia, commonly known as African violet, is a genus of about 6–20 species of perennial flowering plants in the family Gesneriaceae, native to Tanzania and adjacent southeastern Kenya in eastern tropical Africa, hence here they get their common name from ,African Violet.
Position on a bright window sill or other location around the home to add plenty of cheer. Dark green foliage with a red back. Standard variety. Flowers January-December. Height 11-20cm.
They also make fantastic gifts. Supplied as pictured bursting in to bloom with plenty of buds to come, they will last for several weeks.
